The Principles of Health
A person in good health eliminates waste effectively when
necessary. Organs of elimination such as the skin, lung, bowel,
kidneys and liver all become activated when toxins enter the body.
Symptoms such as rashes, coughing, diarrhoea, and vomiting
are all signs of elimination.
Prolonged symptoms of elimination may result in hyperactivity of
the defence system. This is called inflammation. Inflammation
mobilises the cells of our natural resistance, the immune system.
Signs of immune activity include fever, pain, heat, rash, and
malaise.
Medications that subdue the process of inflammation suppress
this response, deepen the illness, and prolong its duration.
When inflammation has failed to effectively remove toxic
substances, or where suppression with medication has occurred,
the body begins to deposit waste into areas for storage. This phase
is called deposition. This is the beginning of more troublesome
symptoms such as gout, kidney stones, warts, adenoid growths
and heel spurs.
Detoxification is absolutely required at this stage to reverse the
process and activate immunity again. Further development without
treating the cause results in more complex chronic conditions such
as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and psoriasis.
Target organs
Our bodies use a very sophisticated system for removing
toxins. This system involves five major organs:
the liver helps to break down and remove toxins —
when you drink a cup of coffee, for example, the liver
must change the chemistry of caffeine into a less harmful
substance. The body then eliminates these by-products
through the kidneys as urine.
the bowel carries toxins from the liver and removes
waste material from digested food.
the kidneys help to filter harmful chemicals from the
blood, removing them through the urinary system.
the lungs and skin also work as detoxification organs
when the body is overloaded with toxins, and serve as
other outlets for elimination.
the blood circulation system is involved in all areas of
detoxification. For detoxification to work well, the blood
circulation system needs to be working at its peak.
Detoxification requires all organs of elimination to be
functioning adequately. A detoxification treatment should
contain tonifying medicines for all the target organs.
Stimulating only the liver, for example, may result in the
common side effects of nausea, poor appetite,
headaches, constipation, etc. Opening all avenues of
elimination ensures one organ does not become
congested. Five organs working efficiently is better
than one!
